Marigot is the heart of the French side, and its café culture is the real thing. But you don't have to cross to the French side for proper French baking: our maisons sit on the Dutch side, on the lagoon in Cole Bay and on Old Street in Philipsburg. La Sucrière was built on the same tradition: real lamination, long ferments, pâtisserie made by hand. The drive between Marigot and Simpson Bay is easy and borderless; we make a natural bookend to a French-side day.

What to order for Marigot & the French Side

Heading north for a Marigot morning? Take a coffee for the drive. Coming back south? This is where you stock up on bread for dinner — the boulangerie case stays full into the evening.

Good to know

Is La Sucrière on the French or Dutch side?
Both our maisons are on the Dutch side — the Waterfront on Welfare Road in Cole Bay (Simpson Bay Lagoon) and the new maison on Old Street in Philipsburg — but the baking is French tradition through and through. The island has no hard border, so we're an easy stop on any cross-island day.
How long is the drive from Marigot to Simpson Bay?
It's an easy drive across the island — no border stop, just a roadside monument where the sides change. Traffic varies with the time of day, so mornings are smoothest.
Do you bake baguettes like a French boulangerie?
Yes — baguettes and breads are made the traditional way, with long fermentation and proper crust, alongside croissants, viennoiserie and French pâtisserie. It's the same craft, with a lagoon view.
