What is the weather like in Sint Maarten through the year?

What about the shoulder months?

The edges of the high season — late spring and into early summer before the peak risk months — can be a sweet spot. The weather is still generally warm and good, the crowds thin out, and the island feels a little more relaxed. May and the start of June, in particular, often give you high-season warmth with a calmer pace, though you are edging toward the start of hurricane season, so it is worth keeping an eye on forecasts.

When is hurricane season in Sint Maarten?

The Atlantic hurricane season officially runs from June 1 to November 30, with August and September the peak-risk months. Most days in this window are simply warm and fine — hurricane season does not mean constant storms — but the genuine risk is concentrated in late summer and early autumn. The island knows this terrain well. Hurricane Irma, a Category 5 storm, struck in September 2017, and Sint Maarten has rebuilt substantially in the years since.

If you travel during these months, the sensible move is to watch the forecasts, consider travel insurance, and stay flexible. The upside is real: lower prices and a quieter island. The trade-off is the weather's unpredictability.
